Exceptional service differentiates Mclaren from its competitors." - Rob Pagacz (Bobcat S300 skid steer loader);                                                                                            "Tires are still working out great. How To Make Fence Post Installation Easier

In order to install a sturdy fence that can withstand the test of time and harsh environmental conditions, you will need to create a firm foundation with secure fence posts. For many, installing fence posts often proves to be a time-consuming and laborious process. However, it does not have to be. With the right equipment and techniques, you can complete the process of installing a quality fence quickly and easily. To learn how to make fence post installation easier, consider implementing these helpful tips.

Remove Old Fence Posts With a Post Puller Attachment

If you want to replace an existing fence, the first thing you will need to do in order to install a new fence is to remove the old posts. To make this process quicker and easier, we suggest utilizing a post puller attachment. This attachment implements a hydraulic clamp that will tightly squeeze the existing post. Once the attachment has clamped down on the post, you can easily lift it up and pull it out of the ground. When using this tool, you will not have to inconveniently switch from one attachment to another in order to remove the fence posts and can thus expedite the process.

At McLaren, we offer exceptional post puller attachments designed to meet and exceed OEM specs. Featuring four rows of gripping teeth and a half-inch steel plate to hold the teeth in place, our attachments can make the process of removing fence posts as quick and efficient as possible.

Clear Your Line With a High-Quality Brush Cutter

Once you have removed the old fence post, you will need to clear the line where you seek to install a new fence. You are most likely putting the fence down in an area toward the edge of a property. To ensure you are able to work there properly, you will need to cut your line and remove any overgrowth, weeds, bushes, and small trees. As such, acquiring a high-quality skid steer brush cutter that can efficiently mow through dense material is essential. Ideally, you should cut the width of your machine using the brush cutter.

When selecting a brush cutter to cut the line for your fence, there are two main options to choose from: a gear-driven brush cutter and a direct hydraulic drive brush cutter.

Gear Driven Brush Cutter

A gear-driven brush cutter is an ideal option for clearing away brush on a plot of land you are familiar with. When used in consistent applications, this type of brush cutter is often more efficient. That said, it can also incur damage more easily in the instance that you accidentally mow over an oversized hard object at a high speed. As such, it is important to be familiar with the land to ensure you can avoid accidentally damaging the machinery during impact.

Direct Hydraulic Drive Brush Cutters

A direct hydraulic drive brush cutter, on the other hand, may impact a solid object with less likelihood of incurring damage. Instead of breaking down, a direct hydraulic drive brush cutter’s motor will simply slow down when going over larger growth, then speed back up after clearing it. As such, hydraulic drive brush cutters are an advantageous choice for commercial land-clearing applications when you may not know what to expect while clearing away overgrowth.

McLaren’s High-Quality Brush Cutter Options

At McLaren, we offer two series of brush cutters to choose from: the blade runner series brush cutter and the blade runner pro series brush cutter. Both boast industry-leading toughness.

Blade Runner Series Brush Cutter

Our blade runner series brush cutter provides exceptional hydraulic brush cutters made with heavy-duty plate steel, AR400 steel blades, and a high-strength seven-gauge steel deck and push bar. When faced with extremely thick undergrowth and tall grasses, our blade runner brush cutter has got you covered. Featuring a simple and efficient design, our innovative attachment will help improve productivity and reduce maintenance installation costs. In fact, our blade runner brush cutter has the lowest cost of ownership of any other quality brush cutter on the market.

Blade Runner Pro Series Brush Cutter

Despite already creating one of the most durable and reliable brush cutters on the market, we decided to kick things up a notch with our blade runner pro series brush cutter. The main difference between this attachment and our blade runner brush cutter is that our pro series brush mower features a direct drive motor. This motor is even more reliable than the standard gear drive and can withstand high amounts of torque without shearing or breaking. Additionally, the pro series brush cutter has a direct drive system that has fewer parts and will ultimately require less maintenance over time. Either way, when you shop from McLaren, you know you’re getting a brush cutter that satisfies the highest quality standards and is built with the best components in the industry.

Use an Auger That Is Slightly Smaller Than Your Post Size

Another tip on how to make fence post installation easier is to use an auger attachment that is slightly smaller than your fence post. Often, people choose to use augers that are larger than the size of their fence post so they can just drop the post in. However, this decision ultimately requires considerably more time and energy. When an auger makes a hole that is larger than the fence post, you will have to backfill the hole and compact the dirt around the pole in order to secure it.

By using an auger bit size that is a little bit smaller than the fence post, you can simply push the post into the hole using the machine. Upon doing so, the post will be stuck in the ground tightly and securely without the need to take any additional measures.
